Purpose of the Role

The Cashier will be an integral part of our team, responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining inventory levels, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual who is adept at handling cash and supporting daily food service operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth functioning of our food service operations and ensure a positive experience for our clients and customers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cashiering Duties:
    • Accurately process transactions, including handling cash, credit, and debit card payments, and issuing receipts.
    • Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift, ensuring that all transactions are correctly recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
    • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial transactions, following company procedures and policies.
  • Restocking Supplies:
    • Regularly restock beverages and general supplies, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and products are readily available for customer use.
    • Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Organize and manage storage areas to ensure that supplies are stored safely and are easily accessible.
  • Food Service Duties:
    • Perform general food service duties, including assisting with food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness in the service area.
    • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries, assisting with food choices, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
    • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation practices, to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their needs and providing assistance as required.
    • Handle customer complaints or issues with empathy and efficiency, ensuring that any problems are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Operational Support:
    • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and shutting down the cash register and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the work area.
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that all aspects of the food service operation run smoothly and efficiently.

Education and Experience

  • Educational Background:
    • Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
  • Professional Experience:
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a cashier role is essential.
    • Experience in a food service operation is highly advantageous.

  • Cash Handling Skills:
    • Proficient in handling cash transactions, with a strong understanding of basic arithmetic and money management.
  • Customer Service Excellence:
    • Passionate about delivering exceptional service and creating a positive experience for clients and customers.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Attention to Detail:

  • Organizational Skills:
    • Effective organizational skills for managing inventory, restocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility:
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational needs.
  • Food Safety Knowledge:
    • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
